::Huge thanks to this garage. We don't speak Russian or Kazakh (I'm American) and took a chance in picking a mechanic. They could have over-charged us, done a poor job, and we wouldn't have known until it was too late. Instead, they did a fantastic job, gave us a good deal, and went out of their way to help us - in just a few hours. They saved us from potentially a serious accident or getting stuck, and reinforced our experience that the Kazakhstanian people are wonderful and an amazingly hospitable culture. At the last minute, we decided to get our Mongol Rally car checked out before we hit the Mongolian roads, even though nothing seemed wrong. We asked them to check the tires and carborator, and replace the oil. We don't speak any Russian or Kazakh, didn't have an appointment, and our 1990 Lada was out of place in their nice garage filled with newer cars. They said they would try to help, and they called a woman, Dinara, who works there but wasn't in yet, who spoke some English. They called and texted to let us know we had a damaged axle, and it wasn't safe to drive without replacing. They sent a video to show us (and kept the old parts), because the new parts weren't cheap. We agreed even though it seemed expensive, and they thanked us for trusting them. They replaced the axle within a couple of hours, did several other services, gave a 5% discount on labor, cleaned our engine, changed our oil for free, and replaced the license plate holders for fun - and told us to call the number printed on them if we ran into trouble. It wasn't until I left the next day and spent an hour decoding the itemized bill using Google translate, and looking up prices on the internet that I realized all they had done, how reasonable the cost was, and how serious the damaged axle was. Thanks for a job well done, and a happy experience in a far away country.
